CHS - Class of 79
History Since Graduation
Andrew Grady
October 11, 1999
Andy Grady wants to pass the news along to the CHS-web that
we've a new addition to our family. Camille Corinne Grady was born on October 2,
1999. She was a little early, but very healthy! Both mom and baby are doing
great.
I attended Mississippi State University in the fall of 1979 and decided to major in
something that would be fun and provide the pre-requisite science courses to enter vet
school. Enology courses (science of wine making) fit the criteria.
Unfortunately for my wine making career, I was accepted into veterinary school at MSU in
1982 and graduated in 1986. I received additional specialty training in an Aquatic
Animal Medicine residency program in 1986-87. I then entered into private practice
in Henderson, TN. Plenty of delivering calves, suturing horses, and caring for
dogs/cats that were hit by cars made me decide to go back to school! Off to the
University of Missouri for a residency program in Laboratory Animal Medicine. I
graduated from that program in 1991 and became a Clinical Veterinarian for the Procter
& Gamble Company in their pharmaceutical research division. Two years later
(June, 1993) I was appointed Director of the Laboratory Animal Facilities at the
University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Enough of the career/professional side, I also decided to "get-a-life".
While at Mississippi State, I met the former Leigh Howell and we were married in
1986. I'm grateful she endured all the moves! We officially
"settled-down" in 1997 when our son, Stuart was born. He is as
active as any toddler, so he helps to keep us young!
I still have an interest in enology, which is primarily acted out in the form of drinking
lots of wine. Further, I have become an active micro-brewer. (Notice a theme
here?). When the opportunity presents, I enjoy golf, hunting, and cooking. My
return trips to Corinth are infrequent, but am certainly looking forward to the reunion
and seeing old friends. Send me an email or give me a call...we'll visit in advance!
