CHS - Class of 79
History Since Graduation

Beth Newman

After I finished high school, I attended Northeast for 2 years and then transferred to Mississippi State University where I got a degree in Business Statistics and Data Processing (the new title would be Information Systems Management).  While there I met my husband Vince (who is from Iuka).  He was rooming with our own Terry Hamm.  After college, I returned to Corinth for a year while Vince finished college.  He joined the Army as an officer and we went overseas.  We were stationed in Europe for 10 years and then came out here to Fort Huachuca, AZ for 2 tours.  While here, Vince spent most of his time deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm.  He returned (briefly) and then went back overseas.  We toured Europe while there (when he wasn't deployed somewhere else....I should have paid better attention in Mrs. Steven's geography class).  Got to see Paris and Rome and Venice and Pompeii and London and Switzerland and Spain and  took up snow skiing until I blew out my knee.   We are now back at Fort Huachuca and have 4 years left to retire. We just built a new house.  I have been working for the government (yes....a Civil Servant) in Personnel for the past 12 years.   I staff the Corps of Engineers in Seattle and Walla Walla, Washington.  Recently was promoted to a GS-12 and that is about it.  We don't have any kids unless you count Fat Cat (who's 17 and MAX who is a 4 year old Boxer).  Vince and I have been married for 15 years (boy time flies).  I won't be able to get home for the reunion.  I was just there when my mom had to have surgery.  Would love to see you guys!!!  Hey if you are ever out here, look me up.  I'm usually the only Speece in the phone book!!
